The Lagos State Local Government elections will take place tomorrow, Saturday, July 12, 2025, across all 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the state.
Movement Restrictions
In advance of the polls, the Lagos State Police Command initially announced a restriction on vehicular and waterway movement from 3:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on election day .
However, a revised directive issued on Thursday adjusted the timetable: movement will now be restricted from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025 .
The adjustment was made to accommodate residents with critical medical emergencies, important appointments, and longstanding international travel plans .
Who is Exempted
Exempted from the restrictions are:
Medical emergency personnel and emergency responders
Accredited LASIEC officials
Election observers and accredited media practitioners carrying valid LASIEC-issued identification tags
The following are prohibited:
Police escorts, vehicles with covered number plates, and siren use near polling units or collation centres
Quasi-security outfit vehicles and state security agency vehicles unless formally accredited by LASIEC
Security Measures & Reporting
A comprehensive security deployment under the Inter‑Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) is in effect to ensure a peaceful and orderly process .
